December 26, 2009

BOONSBORO -- A Hagerstown man was charged Saturday with assaulting a woman in Boonsboro, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Department press release.

Robert Lee Click was charged with second-degree assault, malicious destruction of more than $500 worth of property and violating a protective order, deputies said.

Police said two deputies were sent to Potomac Street in Boonsboro shortly before 8 a.m. to check on a report that a woman was being assaulted.

The deputies talked to the woman -- 30-year-old Melissa Robinson -- at the Boonsboro Police Department about 8:20 a.m., deputies said.

She reported she had a final protective order against Click, but he allegedly choked her and threatened to kill her, police said.

Police said they found Click at Robinson's home. He had sliced his wrist and urged deputies to shoot him, but gave up his knife about 9:15 a.m. and surrendered, deputies said.

Maryland court records list charges filed on Saturday against Robert Lee Click III, 31, of Hagerstown.

Click was being held Saturday night at the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 bond on charges of second-degree assault and malicious destruction of property, a spokesman said. On the protective order violation charge and a second-degree assault warrant, he was being held without bond, the spokesman said.
