Winter officially arrived Monday



The first official day of winter was Monday, but we got a serious amount of snow over the weekend letting us know that winter is definitely upon us. Bundle up, it is cold outside.

Reminder to parents



Parents of Washington County students, please be sure to note the following: Schools are closed beginning today for the winter break. Classes will resume Monday, Jan. 4.

Hall of Fame seeks nominations



The Washington County Sports Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for 2010 induction. Applications are available by writing the Sports Hall of Fame Committee at P.O. Box 27, Funkstown, Maryland 21734. Those interested in obtaining an application can also call Greg Delauney at 240-675-1228, Andy Reid at 301-991-8238 or Rick Schultz at 301-790-3399. All applications must be postmarked by Thursday, Dec. 31.

Polar Bear Plunge set for New Year's Day



Become a member of the Williamsport Polar Bear Club this New Year's Day. The annual Polar Bear Plunge will be at the boat ramp at Riverbottom Park in Williamsport Friday, Jan. 1, at noon.
