WAYNESBORO, Pa. - The Washington Township (Pa.) Supervisors on Monday adopted a 2010 budget that does not include a tax increase.

Expenditures are expected to be $4.3 million from the general fund.

"We cut $585,000 in expenditures from last year," Supervisor Stephen Kulla said.

Supervisor Christopher Firme voted against the budget, having said previously he had issues with the salary increases. Monday was Firme's last meeting as a supervisor.

Firme missed one meeting in six years.

"It's been a pleasure working with you," Township Manager Mike Christopher said.

Supervisor John Gorman thanked Firme for sparking his own interest in township politics.

"He's been helpful for me," Supervisor Elaine Gladhill said.

Firme, who will continue to serve on the township planning commission, said he enjoyed working with his fellow supervisors and township staff.
