Photos from bygone days
in Chambersburg calendar

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Photos of Chambersburg from the early 1900s are featured in a 2010 calendar that celebrates the community's history.

The calendar is available at the Heritage Center, 100 Lincoln Way East, and costs $12.95 plus tax.

The photos are from the collection of Chambersburg resident Mike Marotte III, a volunteer at the Heritage Center.

The cover photo features trolley cars on Lincoln Way East in 1914. The inside photos include images of Chambersburg's first Christmas tree on Memorial Square in 1914; Chambersburg High School; the Hotel Washington; Red Bridge Park; Memorial Square; the "Glen Square" fountain; Wolf Park and lake; and President James Buchanan's cabin (when it was in Chambersburg).

Another new item in the Heritage Center is the film "Route 30" directed by Chambersburg native John Putch. He plans to make a trilogy of films set in this area and "Route 30" is the first of the three.

"Route 30" has won 16 film festival awards and sold out when it was shown locally at The Capitol Theatre. Totem Pole Playhouse regulars Carl Schur and Wil Love appear in the film, which will be sold for $18.95 plus tax.
