Two broken water lines repaired

December 23, 2009|By DAVE McMILLION

The director of utilities for the City of Hagerstown said Wednesday night that two 6-inch water lines broke within about a seven-hour period earlier in the day.

The first line broke at about 11 a.m. on Fairfax Road off Northern Avenue, according to Michael Spiker.

The line was repaired by about 3:30 p.m., Spiker said.

Spiker said he did not know if anyone was affected by the break.

The second line break was on Preston Road off Pennsylvania Avenue, Spiker said.

That line ruptured at about 6 p.m. and was repaired by about 8 p.m., Spiker said.

No one was affected by that break, said Spiker, who added the breaks were not related despite both being in the North End.
