Library events

There are weekly story times at the Clear Spring Library. The Elementary Library Time is on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. in the community room (note: the session will not be held Dec. 30). The Toddler Time is on Fridays at 11:30 a.m. in the children's area. It is for those ages 2 to 5.

Did you know?

Did you know that in days gone by one of the area's favorite pastimes was square dancing? It was held in the Odd Fellows Hall in Clear Spring or in various private homes. Some of the homes that held the dances were the Seiberts, the Fierys, the Troupes, the Cushwas and the Kreighs.

For the guests who did not care to dance, card tables were set up in other areas for them. "Five Hundred" was a popular card game at that time.
