Trojans stay perfect, beat Bishop McDevitt

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Kayone Teal scored 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 15 of Chambersburg's 16 points in the first quarter, as the Trojans defeated Bishop McDevitt 66-54 on Monday in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth game.

Orlando McBeth paced Chambersburg (4-0, 2-0) in the second quarter with 10 of the Trojans' 14 points in the period. McBeth finished with 17 points, while Tyler Young scored 10 points and Tyler Fore and Ryan Borzager each grabbed five rebounds in the win.

Bishop McDevitt is 1-2, 1-2.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Austin Sanders scored 28 points as Cumberland Valley Christian edged Shalom in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

Ben Schlotter added 15 points for CVCS (2-6, 1-3).

Jeffrey McCracken had 20 points and four assists for Shalom (2-6, 1-3). Alex Crilley had 17 points, Dan Witman had 10 rebounds and Brandon Crider added four steals and four assists.

Storm's Burg places at Beast

NEWARK, Del. -- Mercersburg Academy junior Bobby Burg placed seventh at 152 pounds at the prestigious Beast of the East tournament last weekend, going 5-2 in his weight class.

John San Filippo (189) and Paul Suhey (215) each went 2-2 for Mercersburg.

More than 100 teams competed.

Slippery Rock 87, Shepherd 84

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Tyrone Roach led all scorers with a career-high 35 points for Shepherd, which had a late rally fall short against Slippery Rock.

Chad Moore added 12 points and 10 rebounds, Dave Karlson had 12 points and eight boards and Derek Gallagher had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Rams (1-6).

Jabril Brown led Slippery Rock (8-0) with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Bussard named to all-star team

CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Waynesburg University senior offensive lineman Jared Bussard, a 2006 South Hagerstown graduate, recently was honored as a 2009 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Southwest Football All-Star.

Bussard picked up the award after spending four years as a starter for the Yellow Jackets and three years as an All-Presidents' Athletic Conference selection.
