Christmas Eve, Christmas services

St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Smithsburg will host the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7:30 p.m. The service will feature the singing of favorite Christmas hymns, readings, special music, communion and candlelighting. Pastor Mark's sermon message is Light from Light.

St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 1020 Maryland Ave., Pastor Mike Henning will deliver the sermon, The First Gift of Christmas, at the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve candlelight/communion service.

Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport, Christmas Eve will begin at 7 p.m. with a message and music followed by candlelight communion and a cantata at 10:30 p.m. On Christmas Day, the 10:30 a.m. service topic is Behold the King of Glory.

John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., family worship on Christmas Eve begins at 7 p.m. with three choirs. At 10:30 p.m., the tradition candlelight/communion service will feature special music.

Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, 36 Laing Drive (Four Mile Woods), Martinsburg, W.Va., Christmas Eve candlelight service begins at 5 p.m.

Salem Lutheran Church, Fairplay, Christmas Eve candlelighting services will be at 7 and 11 p.m.

Christ Community Church, meeting at 8916 Mapleville Road, a 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service features a medley of Christmas music. The message by Pastor Rich Carr is The King Has Come and Given Us Our Perfect Gift.

Welty Church of the Brethren, Smithsburg, the Christmas Eve service begins at 7 p.m.

Grace Bible Church, 23227 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, Pa., the Christmas Eve candlelight service begins at 7 p.m.

Washington Square United Methodist Church, 538 Washington Ave., the Christmas Eve service for the West End Parish at 7 p.m. features candles, carols and communion.

Christ Reformed UCC, Cavetown, Pastor Carol Hallman will lead the 10 p.m. Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols. The topic is When Heaven Touches the Earth.

Waynesboro (Pa.) Grace Brethren, 250 Philadelphia Ave., a 6 p.m. Christmas Eve service features carols, candlelight and special music by a brass ensemble. The topic is Terrified, Amazed, Thankful.

Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren, 20402 Beaver Creek Road, a communion/candlelight service begins at 11 p.m.

Christian Community Church, 12623 Harpers Ferry Road, the traditional Christmas Eve candlelight/oil lamp service will feature special music.

St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, the Rev. Mark Sandell will preach on Away in a Manger at the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service of communion and candlelighting.

Maranatha Brethren Church, 19833 Scott Hill Drive, carols and the traditions of Christmas will be featured in the Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m.

Calvary United Methodist Church, 220 W. Burke St., Martinsburg, W.Va., a 6 p.m. family Christmas Eve service will feature the drama, The Census Taker's Tale. A 10:30 p.m. music festival will be followed at 11 p.m. by the traditional candlelight service. The meditation is He Comes Again, Tonight.

Christ Lutheran Church, 218 N. Cleveland Ave. on Christmas Eve beginning at 10:30 p.m. there will be special music. The communion/candlelight service will begin at 11 p.m. Pastor Robert McIntyre's message will be We See a Great Light.

Christ Reformed UCC, Sharpsburg, a candlelight/communion service on Christmas Eve begins at 7 p.m.

St. John's Lutheran Church, 101 W. Martin St., Martinsburg, W.Va., a Christmas Eve family service begins at 7:30 p.m. The traditional candlelight Service with special choral music is at 10:30 p.m. On Christmas Day, there is a 10 a.m. communion service.

Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, Md., a Christmas Eve service will begin at 7 p.m. with a candlelighting circle and a monologue by the pastor.

Trinity Episcopal Church, Chambersburg, Pa., the Rev. Patrick Pierce will preside over a 5 p.m. family communion service, and a 10:30 p.m. festive communion service (incense will be used).

Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane, Joel Fridgen will lead a 5:30 p.m. noncommunion family Christmas Eve service. The topic is God's Christmas Gifts. He will also lead the 7 p.m. noncommunion Christmas Eve candlelight service on the topic, A Shepherd's Christmas.

On Christmas Day, Fridgen will lead the 10 a.m. noncommunion service on the topic, Angels We Have Heard on High.

Valley Assembly of God, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown, a Christmas Eve service begins at 6 p.m.

Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, Pa., a Christmas Eve service is planned for 7 p.m.
