Photographic Salon announces winners

HAGERSTOWN - The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will present the annual Cumberland Valley Photographic Salon awards ceremony and reception between 2:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24.

The juried photographic competition features work by amateur and professional photographers from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, the District of Columbia and beyond.

Juror David Haberstich is currently associate curator of photography in the Archives Center at the National Museum of American History.

Judging for the 77th Annual Cumberland Valley Photographic Salon was held Dec. 3.

The exhibition will be on view from Sunday, Jan. 31, through Tuesday, March 23.

Visitors to the exhibition are invited to vote for their favorite photograph in the Popular Prize Award.

Winners are:

o Best of Show: Marshall Dupuie of Frederick, Md., "Passages"

o Best Photograph by a Washington County, Md. Photographer: Wanda Mounts of Hagerstown, "Moon Rising Over Burnside Bridge"

o Juror's Choice Award: William Brittain of Frederick, Md., "The View From Loudon Heights"


o Juror's Choice Award Sarah W. Howel of Gainesville, Virginia, Heron

o Juror's Choice Award: Wanda Mounts, "Moon Rising Over Burnside Bridge"

o Juror's Choice Award: Jamie Turner of Hagerstown, "Friend for a Moment"

o Juror's Choice Award: Jamie Turner of Hagerstown, "The Dubliners"

Admission to the museum is free.

Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday,9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
