Holiday closures

The following is a list of holiday closures:



  • Washington County offices and services will be closed Thursday and Friday, as well as Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Essential emergency functions will operate as usual.

     

  • County Commuter Transit will run until 4 p.m. Thursday and return to normal schedules Saturday. Buses will run until 7 p.m. Dec. 31 and resume normal schedules Jan. 2.

     

  • All landfill locations in Washington County will be closed Thursday and Friday. The landfills also will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

     

  • The Washington County Health Department will be closed Thursday and Friday, as well as Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

  • The City of Hagerstown offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Emergency and continuous operations will remain open.   

  • The City Farmer's Market at 25 W. Church St. will be closed Saturday. The market will resume regular operations Jan. 2 from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • There will be no trash or recycling collection in the City of Hagerstown on Friday, and the landfill will be closed.

    Trash and recycling that is normally collected on Friday will be delayed by one day.

The city noted that large volumes of post-Christmas waste often cause the collections to be later in the day than normal.

 

  • Post offices in the Baltimore District -- which includes ZIP codes beginning with 210 to 219 -- will be open Thursday but will shorten retail lobby hours by closing at noon. Mail delivery for Thursday is not affected by the change.

    Revised hours will be posted at each post office. Commercial customers are asked to check with their bulk-mail acceptance unit for hours of operation.

    Customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS for information about specific post offices. In addition, mail should be deposited into blue collection mailboxes by noon for early pickup Thursday.

    All post offices will be closed Friday. Express Mail only will be delivered on Christmas Day in most major metro areas. Post offices in the Baltimore District will be open regular hours Saturday.

  • Frederick County Government administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. Offices also will be closed Jan. 1.
