Harry Omar Meyers Jr., 74

WILLIAMSPORT - Harry Omar Meyers Jr., 74, of Williamsport, Md., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, surrounded by his family.

He was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Charlton, Md., to the late Harry Omar and Mildred Pearl Myers Meyers.

He was a graduate of Williamsport High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was emplooyed by GM Parts Distribution as an hourly benefit representative of Martinsburg, W.Va., for 22 years until retiring in 1990. He also was previoulsy employed by Peoples Life Insurance of Hagerstown, Md.

He was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Williamsport.

He was a volunteer with the Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, Md.

He was a member of UAW Local 1590 of Martinsburg, where he had served as finance secretary. He also was a member of Conococheague Tribe 84 IORM of Williamsport, Potomac Post 202 American Legion Williamsport, Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa., and was past president of Conococheague Little League.

Harry was an avid hunter and enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. He also was a Redskins fan.

Survivors include, his wife, Esther Annabelle Fischer Meyers, married Oct. 6, 1954, of Williamsport; daughter, Unita A. Meyers-Murray of Williamsport; son, Harry O. Meyers III of Williamsport; two sisters, Palma J. "Polly" Myers of Halfway, Md., and Geraldine K. Andrews of Williamsport; three grandsons, Marlin E. Meyers of Willards, Md., Patrick A. Meyers and his wife, Heather, of Salisbury, Md., and Tanner J. Meyers of Williamsport; one granddaughter, Danielle J. Murray of Williamsport; one great-grandson, Caleb A. Meyers at home; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, M. Marlene Litten.

The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Tuesday for the convenience of famiy and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. James E. Swecker officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport. Military graveside services will be provided by AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corps League of Hagerstown.
