Art gallery seeks artist



Contemporary Art Gallery is seeking a regional artist to participate at noon Saturday, Jan. 16, at the gallery, 4 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown.

Trip raffle



Leadership Washington County is holding a fundraiser, "Get Out of Town - Leadership Washington County is the Ticket."

Six trips have been donated by alumni, friends and area businesses. Five hundred tickets will be sold and the drawing will take place in February. Among the getaway possibilities are: five nights in a chalet in the Smokey Mountains in North Carolina; three days at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.; and seven days in Siesta Keys, Fla.

Pageant looking for contestants



Young women between the ages of 13 and 24 are invited to compete in the upcoming Miss Washington County/Miss Western Maryland Scholarship competition.

The event will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Kepler Theater at Hagerstown Community College, Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown. Miss Washington County 2010 and Miss Western Maryland 2010 and their teen counterparts, Miss Washington County Outstanding Teen 2010 and Miss Western Maryland Outstanding Teen 2010 will be selected.

To compete for the Western Maryland titles, a contestant must live, work or attend school in Garrett, Allegany, Washington or Frederick County. To complete for the Washington County titles, a contestant must have been a Washington County resident for the past six months.

All contestants must attend an orientation from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Plaza Hotel, 1718 Underpass Way, Hagerstown. Parents can attend. Professional photos will be taken at 8:30 a.m.
