Jaycees take children on shopping spree

The Hagerstown Jaycees conducted its annual children's shopping spree Dec. 12. This year, thanks to donations from individuals and funds provided by the Jaycees, members took 10 children Christmas shopping at Target. After shopping, the group was taken to Cici's Pizza on Wesel Boulevard for lunch. The Jaycees would like to thank Target and Cici's Pizza for the support.

The Jaycees is a local organization providing leadership training through community involvement for those ages 21 to 40. For more information, go to

Allegany Dental

Allegany Dental Care held its community service day Dec. 12.

The doctors, staff, and families participated in a day of helping others. Some volunteered to ring the bell for The Salvation Army in front of Pennsylvania Dutch Market at Long Meadow Shopping Center, while others wrapped gifts for the American Red Cross at Valley Mall.


Holiday concert planned

The Williamsport Community Band will take the stage Sunday for a holiday concert at Williamsport High School at 3 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 301-223-6538.

Bonanza to be held

The Williamsport High School Athletic Boosters will hold a bonanza Saturday, Jan. 9, at Williamsport Fire Hall.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be drawn at 7:30 p.m. with music from DJ Night Life Entertainment to follow. Tickets cost $35 per couple, which includes dinner, drinks and dancing.

In honor of Nick Adenhart, ticket number 34 will be raffled and guaranteed to be in the last five tickets drawn for the chance to win $1,000. All proceeds from the Ticket 34 raffle will be donated to the Nick Adenhart Foundation.

Adenhart, a Williamsport High grad and Los Angeles Angels pitcher, was killed in an automobile accident earlier this year.

His jersey number with the Angels was 34.
