Mail Call

"I don't know, but people don't realize the party of no is the Republican Party, and if they stop and go back years and years, they'll find out if it wasn't for the Democrats, there wouldn't be Social Security, Medicare or entitlement programs for kids. There would be nothing, except for the rich. They're a party of no. ... Far as Joe Lieberman is concerned, he is for the insurance companies." - Hagerstown

"I've been listening to the news and reading the paper. We need to replace the two senators we have, Barbara Mikulski and Cardin. I don't care who runs, what affiliation it is - Democrat, Republican, Independent - but we have to replace them with two others. And I'll vote for any party, anybody that runs. They're raising our taxes and stuff, and they're voting for it." - Hagerstown

"An FYI to the Sharpsburg caller: I happen to be an attractive woman. I have a disability and I get tired of men in general that don't give me an opportunity to get to know me, to date. I'm intelligent, I have a sense of humor, I'm nice, and I am pretty, but you need to consider women in general, instead of some of you are too superficial. ... That's an FYI for you, and maybe that's why you have trouble." - Hagerstown

"I would like to thank a good Samaritan today. As I was riding my bicycle on Route 11 to Greencastle, the roads were really icy, and I didn't realize until I got close to town. But Darla ... stopped and gave me a ride to town in her van. ... She was so kind and all to let me put my bicycle inside her van. She gave me a lift to town, Greencastle. There's good people out there." - Greencastle, Pa.

"I'm just calling in concerning the teachers that are complaining about getting mugs from children for Christmas. Well, I work at a day care out in the North End of town. We're lucky if our parents even pay their bills. We would love to take the teachers' mugs that they don't want, and we'd gladly use them for our Christmas present." - Hagerstown

"I think more people should be praying for peace." - Waynesboro, Pa.

"Don't put your signs on the county right-of-way, or the county will remove them. They'll be considered trash." - Mercersburg, Pa.

"I'm calling in reference to the name change of the Washington County Hospital. What's the reason for changing it? Who picked the name? Let's hear from some of the people from the hospital who were on the panel that picked the name - and a Latin name. Did the Latin people build this hospital? Let's get our city together here and get our people. Let's see what they have to say about this." - Hagerstown

"Another example of our poor representation in Annapolis is the comments that Del. Myers and Del. Serafini have made recently in the paper, regarding state employees' salaries and benefits. It's no wonder that our local area is so poorly represented in Annapolis." - Hagerstown

"I'm a little late on my response about the article 'Borough removes nativity scene,' but better late then never. Shame on Denise Lucas, president of the Norland Garden Club, the Chambersburg Borough Council and Mayor Pete Lagiovane. You should have told them to go ahead and set up their scene. If we don't stand up to these ridiculous groups, who will? 'The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming', Psalms 37:13. The Lord will prevail." - Frederick, Md.

"Please return the TV guide to its former format. I also agree that the way it is now is ridiculous." - Clear Spring

"I am offended that the residents of Washington County did not get an input for the new name of the new hospital. Also, in these tight budget times, to go outside of the area to help name our hospital is ridiculous. This shows no consideration for Washington County and Hagerstown residents, who will get the most use of it, and undoubtedly spend the most money in it for treatment." - Hagerstown

"I'm calling about the naming of the Washington County Hospital. How about changing the name back to what it used to be years ago, Washington County Free Hospital? How many years ago has that been since it was called that?" - Williamsport area

"The answer to Andrew Joliet in his letter to the editor Dec. 14: What you and your family did wrong, you were responsible. I was like you when I was younger. I thought everything was fair, but it didn't take long to find out the truth. If you don't care, you can go on welfare and live like a man that makes $100,000 a year. Or you could be a millionaire and pay less taxes than a poor working man." - Pondsville

"Do you think that what should be called Robinwood Medical Center has anything to do with Southern Boulevard's construction date being moved up? Awful funny, isn't it?" - Washington County

"I want to thank whoever decided to come into my yard and steal a snow globe from my 8-year-old daughter that's having health trouble. Thank you for being stupid and upsetting a child that's having health trouble ... and you will get paid someday for what you've done to a child." - Oak Ridge Drive
