Mildred M. Faith

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Mildred M. Faith, of Mercersburg, Pa., passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Dry Run, Md., she was a daughter of the late James O. and Nellie Mae Trumpower Faith.

At one time, Mildred was employed by the Tuscarora School District in the cafeteria at Mountain View Elementary School and James Buchanan High School.

She retired from S. Stanley Hawbaker and Sons, where she worked for many years.

She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg and a former member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Mercersburg.


Her other memberships included Women of the Moose and Harry Lackhove Post 517 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her beloved husband, John M. Faith, preceded her in death Sept. 17, 1973.

She is survived by four children, Sarah Hovermale and her friend, Robert V. Crist, of St. Thomas; Rose M. Yeager and husband, Gary, of Mercersburg; Kathleen Mitchell and husband, William, of St. Thomas; and John A. Faith and wife, Wanda, of St. Thomas; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Catherine Jones and Rita Clark, both of Dry Run.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James N. Faith Sr., on July 25, 2009; a great-granddaughter, Kali; five brothers, Earl, Fred, Guy, Glen and Carl Faith; two sisters, Hazel Repp and Charlotte Ingream; and a special friend, Ray Smith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Andre J. Meluskey at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg.
