Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. to get back its refurbished tanker truck

December 15, 2009|By JULIE E. GREENE

CLEAR SPRING - Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. is expecting to get back its refurbished tanker truck this week, Fire Chief Michael L. Reid said Monday.

The 28-year-old tanker was out of service for two months, Reid said. The tanker's structural integrity became compromised due to corrosion between its frame rails, underneath the vehicle.

It would have cost $300,000 for a new bare-bones tanker, but refurbishing the existing one cost $45,000, Reid said.
