Franklin County Commissioners name new solicitor

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The Franklin County (Pa.) Commissioners on Tuesday announced Mary Beth Shank will become their new solicitor effective Jan. 4.

Shank replaces Shawn Meyers, who was elected to a judge position for the 39th District of the Court of Common Pleas.

Shank, a partner in the law firm of Sharpe & Sharpe, has served as an assistant solicitor in the county since January 2006, according to a news release.

Shank attended Penn State University's Dickinson School of Law and Grove City College. She is a board member of the Franklin County Bar Association and serves as solicitor for the Franklin County Council of Governments.

A native of Chambersburg, Shank served on the Chambersburg Borough Council for the past four years and serves on the boards of Downtown Chambersburg Inc. and Keystone Health Center.
