Harriet Winola Ridenour, 83, of Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Washington County Hospital.

"Noli," as friends & family called her, was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Mapleville, Md., and was the daughter of the late Edwin T. and Amy Thelma (Keadle) Staley.

She lived in the Beaver Creek and Mount Lena area all of her life.

She was married to Lon E. Ridenour for 49 years until his death in 1997.

She attended school at Funkstown and graduated from Hagerstown High School, class of 1944.

She worked as a zipper setter in the garment industry, first at L'Aiglon, and then at E.J. Fennel Co., retiring after 17 years. She took over a stall at Hagerstown City Market for many years after her parents retired from there.

She was a member of TOPS since 1996, and traveled to several area and international recognition days with her sister Lois.

In her early years, she was a member of First Brethren Church in Hagerstown, where she served as a teacher, youth leader and deaconess. She was presently a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church, where she served as an elder for more than a decade, and was awarded a plaque for Elder-Ameris.

She is survived by niece, Tammy K. Staley; nephews, James E Haupt, David E. Haupt and Richard A. Haupt; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Helen F. Haupt and Lois E. Staley; and brother, Edwin K. Staley.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at Beaver Creek Christian Church, with the Rev. Mark Curran officiating. Burial will be in Mount Lena Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
