Williamsport to get its own Boys & Girls Club

December 15, 2009|By DAVE McMILLION

WILLIAMSPORT - A Boys & Girls Club is coming to Williamsport.

Mayor James G. McCleaf II, who made the announcement during the Williamsport Town Council meeting Monday night, said a $25,000 grant is making the club's startup possible.

The Boys & Girls of Washington County was instrumental in securing the money, McCleaf said.

The grant will establish the club for two years, but there is interest in making the club permanent, McCleaf said.

The Boys & Girls Club will offer the typical activities associated with the organization, as well as a teenage pregnancy prevention program, McCleaf said.

The club will meet in the community building in Byron Memorial Park, McCleaf said.
