Benefit planned

Hempen Hill BBQ Bar and Catering will hold a benefit for Salem Reformed Church today through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The restaurant will donate 15 percent of food sales to the church's youth group to help offset the cost of its mission trip. Reservations are recommended for parties of five or more. Mention to the server that you are there to help the youth group. The restaurant is in Fountainhead Plaza off Pennsylvania Avenue.

The annual Christmas celebration will be held Wednesday, a week later than planned due to inclement weather.

Meetings are held Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with weigh-in at 8:45 a.m., at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown. For more information, call Mary or Tom at 301-797-2547.

Red Cross

The Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold classes for those interested in becoming volunteer Red Cross instructors.

Total losses for the week were 42 1/2 pounds. The best TOPS losers were Angie Youngblood and Shirley Knode. The best KOPS losers were Louise Horst and Mildred Lukey. The Get-R-Done prize of $7.75 was awarded to Knode with a 3-pound loss. Madalyn Keller won the HA-HA! Pot. Next week's No-No food is cake.

The program, arranged by Madalyn Keller, was presented by Marsha Moats from the Washington County Recreation Department. The subject was "Diet and Activity."

Moats led the group in activities and reviewed the programs offered by the recreation department.

Election for "Shining Stars" was held and the results will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Debbie Hardin gave a Pound Puppy to Louise Cline.

The club held a clothing collection drive. The club collected 492 items, including gloves, hats and scarves, and distributed them to local elementary schools.

The Christmas program will be held today.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church.
