MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Larry J. "Jim" Pine, 63, of Punch Bowl Road, Mercersburg, Pa., went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at his home.

Born Sept. 27, 1946, in Mercersburg, he was a son of the late George F. and Evelyn Unger Pine.

He was a 1964 graduate of James Buchanan High School, Mercersburg.

He retired from Grove Worldwide after 38 years of service.

His memberships included: General James Chambers Lodge 801 F & AM of Chambersburg, Pa., charter member of Moose Lodge 1790, and member of American Legion Post 517 and VFW Post 6241, all of Mercersburg, and American Legion 222, SAL, of Clear Spring, Md.

He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, and enjoyed NASCAR and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Sue Ellen Clark Pine; two sons, Jeffrey A. Pine and his companion, Norma Jean Holmes, and Rodney J. (husband of Rhonda C.) Pine, both of Mercersburg; stepson, Robert E. Keefer and his companion, Christina Chapman, and a stepdaughter, Kimberly Brown and husband, Kurt, all of Clear Spring; grandchildren, Ashlyn Pine, Asya and Ryder Brown, and Elizabeth Pukmel; a great-grandson, Cadon Anderson; brothers, Charles "Sonny" Pine, G. Randy Pine and Richard Pine, all of Mercersburg, Merle Pine of Greencastle and Gregory Lee Pine of Shade Gap, Pa.; and sisters, Joan Garland of Mercersburg and Faye Moore of Greencastle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Phillip Pine; and his sisters, Janet Overcash and Kathleen McCulloh.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday Dec. 17, at Mount Tabor United Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg, with the Revs. Allen Reed and Roy E. Brake Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, where a Masonic graveside service will be held.

Viewing is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
