Ford helps HCC hold off Potomac St.

CUMBERLAND, Md. -- Jon Ford had 19 points, eight assists, five rebounds and five steals on Saturday to lead Hagerstown to a 84-79 victory over Potomac State in the Allegany Pepsi Christmas Classic.

Donte Stuckey added 16 points, while K'yan Andrews had 12 points and 11 rebounds for HCC. Raylin Brown had 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and Demetrus Richardson added eight assists, five rebounds for the Hawks (7-6).

Lady Gael Classic

Kayla Boggs scored a game-high 12 points and MacKenzie Martin added 10 points to lead Preston over host St. Maria Goretti 50-31 in the championship game of the Lady Gael Classic on Saturday.

The Knights (2-0) took advantage of a 19-5 run in the second quarter and led the Gaels 28-9 at the half.

Kris Cronise had 10 points and eight rebounds for Goretti (3-4), while Colleen Costello had seven points and eight boards and Maggie Garvey recorded seven steals.

Kendra Myers led CVCS with 15 points and four assists as the Blazers held off Shalom Christian 38-34 in the consolation game.

Christine Walker added 10 points and three blocks for CVCS (3-2), while Karrie Calathas grabbed seven rebounds. Lauren Grove scored 14 points and Hunter Martin added 10 for Shalom (1-3).
