Patricia B. (Bishop) "Pat" Small

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Patricia B. (Bishop) "Pat" Small, 76, of 13126 Grandview Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., and a guest of Quincy Village, entered into eternal rest at 11:08 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in the nursing home.

She was born on April 7, 1933, in Philadelphia, Pa.; she was the daughter of the late Everett and Lillian (McCready) Bishop.

Mrs. Small graduated from Lower Merion High School in Philadelphia with the class of 1951. She then graduated from Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1954.


She and her husband of over 54 years, Mr. Robert E. Small, were married on July 30, 1955, in Philadelphia. They lived at the Grandview Drive address for the past 52 years. She was a guest at Quincy Village for the past six months.

Mrs. Small was employed as a nurse at Chambersburg Hospital, then Waynesboro Hospital. She then worked for the Lincoln Intermediate Unit as a teacher's aide. Prior to retiring, she was a nurse at the South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa.

Pat was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Waynesboro, Ruby Red Homemaker Hatters (Red Hat Society) and was active with the sewing group and Prayer Shawl Ministry of her church. She also took three short-term mission trips to Honduras.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Robert C. and wife Betty Jo Small of Hagerstown, Md., and Timothy C. and wife Linda Small of Sidney, Ohio; four grandchildren, Robert J. Small of Greencastle, Emily C. Small of Waynesboro, and Jonathan D. Small and Rebecca M. Small both of Sidney, Ohio; great-grandsons, Robert Cole Small and Cody L. Tharp; and a sister, Sally and husband Denis Ramball of Cinnaminson, N.J.

A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in Christ United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 100 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268 or to Quincy Village Benevolent Care Fund, P.O. Box 128, Quincy, PA 17247.
