DAV service officer in Hagerstown on Dec. 17

A Disabled American Veterans service officer will be in Hagerstown from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Hagerstown VA Clinic, Hub Plaza Building, 1101 Opal Court. The officer will be in Hagerstown on the third Thursday of every month.

The service officer will be available to prepare claims for VA benefits and provide information to veterans or their family members. Bring a copy of your military discharge, DD 214 or other service record, VA claim number if one was issued, and any correspondence or rating decision information.

Bowl for the Cure scheduled Feb. 23

Bowl for the Cure No-Tap Tournament, sponsored by Southside 48 Bowling League is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23, and Sunday, March 7 at Southside Bowl, 17325 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown. Entry forms will be available at Southside Bowl.

This year, local bowlers hope to raise more than $15,000 to contribute to Bowl for the Cure, a year-round fundraising and awareness initiative organized by the United States Bowling Congress in support of the Susan B. Komen for the Cure.
