Albert John Adams, 82, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Jan. 29, 1927, in Royal Oak, Mich., he was the son of the late Adam John and Elizabeth (Moscicki) Adams.

Albert served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, retiring after more than 20 years of service, including WWII and the Korean War. Albert enjoyed raising horses and spending time at the racetrack.

He is survived by close friends Michelle Miller-Thorpe of Hagerstown, Charles Freeland of Lutherville, Md., and Lewis Close of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by one sister, Bette Adams Knofsky.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Fr. J. Collin Poston will officiate. Burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., where military honors shall be accorded.

The visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

The Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, Bryan K. Kenworthy P.A., 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
