Gunman robs 7-Eleven near Charles Town

December 09, 2009

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. -- Authorities are looking for a man who brandished a semiautomatic handgun when he robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store off East Washington Street near Charles Town Tuesday at 1:22 a.m.

The black male suspect was more than 6 feet tall with a slender to medium build, according to Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Detective Steve Holz.

Dressed in dark clothing and wearing a ski mask and hat, the robber did not actually point the gun at the clerk, who complied with the robber's demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of money from the register.

"It wasn't a lot," Holz said.

Holz did not indicate whether the suspect fled in a vehicle or on foot.

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact Holz directly at 304-728-3265.
