Ruth Ann Shillingburg, 69, of Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born April 16, 1940, in Falling Waters, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Johnson and Eliza Ellen (Booth) Shillingburg.

Ruth graduated from South Hagerstown High School, class of 1959. She retired from the Washington County Board of Education after 45 years of service.

Ruth is survived by three brothers, Donald L. Shillingburg of Mapleville, Md., Giles F. Shillingburg and James D. Shillingburg Sr.; two sisters, Nancy P. Brown and Patricia I. Domer, all of Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack A. Shillingburg, Samuel F. Shillingburg, William R. Shillingburg, Orville R. Shillingburg and John D. Shillingburg, and two sisters, Colleen Shillingburg and Juanita H. Dicus.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at the Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Shaw M. Bushman will officiate. Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Va.

The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the funeral home.
