Scouting provides many opportunities for Cub Scouts to participate in outdoor adventures.
The Mason-Dixon Council held several events for Cub Scouts during the summer months. There were parent-son weekends at Sinoquipe Scout Reservation near Fort Littleton, Pa. The boys and their parents participated in BB shooting, archery, nature hikes and skills events, and made crafts.
The council hosted a weeklong day camp in Williamsport at Bryon Memorial Park, with the theme of "Scouts in Space ... to the Moon and Beyond." There were approximately 90 Scouts, representing 17 packs, and 36 volunteers in attendance.
The campers participated in archery, BB shooting, crafts, science, sport and swimming activities. The Tri-State Astronomers provided information about astronauts, moon missions and provided solar viewers through which to safely view the sky. Paper rockets were constructed and launched.
