Bentley's Bagels to serve full lunch menu until it closes

December 04, 2009

Bentley's Bagels will be open in the afternoon and feature a full lunch menu from Monday until the end of December as owner Eric Muritz prepares to sell the business.

The popular downtown coffee and sandwich shop at 15 W. Washington St. closed its doors at the start of this week while Muritz handled some of the planning, he said.

The restaurant had a limited menu Friday, when it was open from 2 to 6 p.m., the same hours Muritz will keep through December, he said.

Patrons will be able to buy perishable and dry goods from Bentley's at liquidation prices through the end of the month, Muritz said.

None of the equipment on the premises will be for sale, he said.

"It's for if people want to come in and get a dozen cookies or buy coffee by the pound," Muritz said.

Though Muritz confirmed he does intend to sell the business, he said he'd like to see Bentley's remain as is.

"It will always be Bentley's to me," he said.

Muritz purchased Bentley's in the summer of 2005.

Bentley's Bagels has been serving the downtown lunch crowd in Hagerstown since 1994, under several different owners and at two different locations on West Washington Street.
