Pet Santa photos



The Humane Society of Washington County has partnered with Kim McMillion of McMillion Photography for pet photo sessions.

A session will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Central Dawgma & The Dawg Wash, 1337 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Entertainment will be provided by the band Dogfoot.

Photos are for domestic pets only.

Photos are 4-inches by 6-inches and cost $10 with half of the proceeds benefiting the HSWC. Special holiday frames are included while supplies last. Go to www.hswcmd.org.

Arts forum



MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- The Mercersburg Council For the Arts will hold an arts forum at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Basement, Linden Avenue.

The council will allow guests to discuss the direction of MCFA in 2010.

Operation Santa Claus



The Mental Health Association of Maryland, Washington County Branch and Turning Point of Washington County Inc. will conduct Operation Santa Claus again this year.

The project provides holiday gifts to Washington County residents who are patients at the Thomas B. Finan Center.

Bring gifts to a reception from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, at Turning Point of Washington County Inc., 25 E. North Ave., Hagerstown. Or to have the gifts picked up or for the list of requested gifts, call 301-733-6555.

Nonperishable food collection



Freddie's Sub Shops will be collecting nonperishable food items at both of its Hagerstown locations from now until the end of the year. All items will be taken to Food Resources Inc.

Food can be donated at either the 520 Park Lane location or the 18206 Oak Ridge Drive location during normal business hours. For more information call 301-797-0070.

Free holiday dinner

Toys for Tots collection site



Local residents who wish to donate new, wrapped toys to the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program may drop them off at the Edward Jones office of Benito Vattelana.

The office is in Stone House Square shopping center at 12818-E Shank Farm Way, off Leitersburg Pike north of Hagerstown. Residents may drop off toys during regular business hours through Friday, Dec. 11.
