BEDINGTON, W.Va. -- A Berkeley County man was killed Thursday evening after the motorcycle he was operating collided with a pickup truck on U.S. 11 about a quarter-mile north of the Bedington Crossroads store, according to a Berkeley County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Michael Joseph Tyeryar, 50, of Falling Waters, W.Va., was traveling north when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a Nissan pickup truck head-on, Lt. R.L. Gardner said.

Gardner said Tyeryar's family members told him the victim had just bought the 2010 Suzuki motorcycle.

Tyeryar was found lying along the road after the accident, which was reported at 5:06 p.m., Gardner said.

The driver of the truck, Norman Mark Casagrande, 49, of Martinsburg, W.Va., refused treatment at the scene, Gardner said.

Tyeryar, who was pronounced dead at the scene, got the motorcycle about 30 minutes before the wreck, Gardner said.

Gardner said he thinks his department has completed its investigation of the crash.
