MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Corey Schmidt scored a game-high 27 points as Mercersburg Academy defeated St. Maria Goretti 72-50 in the Blue Storm's season opener Wednesday night.

Jack Taylor had 16 points for the Blue Storm.

Nic Martin had 21 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Gaels (2-3).
