Smithsburg volunteer firefighters respond to calls

The Smithsburg Community Volunteer Fire Co. responded to 30 calls for service in November, according to the monthly report distributed by Chief Chris D. Rohrer.

The calls included seven vehicle accidents with injuries, nine calls to assist emergency medical services and two calls to assist neighboring counties.

Thirty-four personnel participated in November, creating an average of 9.66 personnel per call.

Smithsburg Fire participated in the Veterans Day ceremony, and helped numerous businesses and residents make sure they had working smoke alarms.

The fire company urges those who don't have working smoke alarms in their homes to contact their local fire companies.
