SMITHSBURG - Jay Quinn Fogle, 85, of Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, Md., passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Williamsport Nursing Home.

Born March 13, 1924, in Smithsburg, he was the son of the late Jay B. and F. Madeline (Sigler) Fogle.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Air Corps 5th Air Commando.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, Smithsburg Post Office as postmaster, People's Life Insurance Co. and retired from Mack Trucks, Hagerstown.

He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Cavetown, Md., and Smithsburg Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adra E. (Paugh) Fogle, whom he married June 12, 1954; daughter, Susan J. Fogle of Smithsburg; sons, Jeffrey Q. Fogle and wife, Terri D., of Hagerstown and Brian E. Fogle and fiance, Joann W., of Smithsburg; grandchildren, Quinton E. Fogle and Brooke Tanner Fogle; stepgrandchildren, Jonathan W. Ball, Megan E. Ball, Savannah J. Celestial and Katrina L. Celestial; and sister, Mary Jane Boyer of South Mountain, Pa.


There will be no viewing.

Private graveside services will be held at Cavetown Cemetery at the convenience of the family with Pastor Carol D. Hallman officiating.
