Mail Call

November 30, 2009

"This is to the person who called in regarding the bed-bound woman who's being taken advantage of by their caregiver, who isn't there all the time. Instead of wasting your time calling in to Mail Call, you should be calling the adult protective services because a bed-bound patient should never, ever be allowed to be left alone for any amount of time, and that is definitely abuse and neglect. So make a phone call to adult protective services instead of Mail Call."

"I am tired of people calling in ... that their pet was hit by a car and the driver didn't stop. If you were a responsible pet owner, the pet, as a dog, would be on a leash, or as a cat, would be inside the house and not allowed outside. It is your responsibility to take care of your pet. And these days, if the driver stopped, they're likely to get shot or beat up."

"I'd like to comment to the person who lives here in Hagerstown and is upset because capital punishment was used on the sniper. I say 'hooray.' At least he was caught before he made it to Hagerstown, and only God knows what he had planned for our fair city. They were murderers and should have both been given the death penalty. I'll bet the person who wrote in would feel different if their family had been shot down like rabid animals."

"This is to the woman who lives in the exclusive subdivision in Boonsboro who complains about her neighbors' leaves coming in your yard. I also have a problem with my neighbors' leaves, but I rake them up and don't complain. But just think, she has exclusive leaves. I guess mine are slum leaves because I live in the other section of Boonsboro."

"Someone please answer me a question. The state is in such financial hard times, why are we building new rest areas in Frederick County along Interstate 70, in the approximate amount of $70 million? And then why are we building a new building for the Maryland State Police? Let's just keep building things and going further in debt, and keep taking from Maryland state workers."

"Just read in the paper today, 11/24/09, that no charges have been filed in the accident at the intersection of Security Road and Cleveland Avenue on 11/15/09, in which a lady was killed, wearing a seat belt, as a passenger. Also curious how repairs were completed so soon. This is the first of anything has been reported since this accident."

"I just want to tell people, you know, parking spaces in parking lots were made for, to put your car in. I have observed three different places this morning, people pull in either in front of the curb in front of a business, getting out, leaving their vehicle sit, dropping kids off at school and not pulling in the parking lot into a parking space like other people do. Why do people think they're special, that they can park wherever they want to?"

"As citizens, we are required to pay for our debts. The U.S. has a debt they cannot afford to pay the interest on. ... We can't afford a war in Afghanistan. We need that money to rebuild our bridges, rebuild our roads."

"To the Clear Spring caller: First of all, I am not the one who is complaining about having to wait in line. I have people, when I wait in line, with having a disability, trying to butt me off the line and being rude. So please understand what you read. There are people like myself or anyone who needs to have enough time to put their change back in their purse."

"Now that Washington is finished trying to sell insurance that people don't want, let's work on jobs that they do want."

"Calling in about the person calling about capital punishment. Apparently you did not watch any of the news about the sniper. He did not show any remorse about what he did, and furthermore, our economy is hurting. Do you want to know how much it costs a year to keep one inmate? Would you be willing to pay for this stay in prison? Because our economy is already hurt and struggling."

- Washington County

"Considering the balloon test, the residents of Pleasant Valley: The balloon test that you saw against the mountain is very deceiving. The balloon may show where the towers want to be erected, but you don't realize how large the tower is going to be. It's going to be a monster. I don't care what color they promise to paint it, it's not going to help. I just recently purchased a house in the Pleasant Valley area to move away from the same type of tower that was going to be erected here."

"I'm reading Mail Call this morning. I read about the BOE. I'd like to know who they are. I've never - I vote every election. I don't remember ever voting for anybody. This reminds me of the czars. There's people making decisions that you don't know who they are. ... I don't understand, so I'd like an explanation on who they are, what their names are, where they're from."
