Library cookie event

Did you know that Dec. 4 is National Cookie Day? I am told that it might not be on that exact day, but sometime in the next few weeks, someone, somewhere, will decorate the 10,000th cookie for donation at a Drop In & Decorate Party. Washington County Free Library's Central Library, at 100 S. Potomac St., invites the public to drop in and decorate cookies on Dec. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Cookies and decorating supplies will be provided. All decorated cookies will be donated to the REACH shelter.

Drop In & Decorate Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Rhode Island and founded by food writer Lydia Walshin, works to build bridges of caring within communities through cookies-for-donation events that benefit a nonprofit agency serving basic human needs. The library thanks Sanders Cookie Jar on Pennsylvania Ave., Martin's Food Store on Wesel Boulevard, Weis Markets on Eastern Boulevard and the Friends of the Library for their generous donations supporting this event.

Thanks for remembering

I wanted to say hello to my nephew, Seth. And to also thank my family and friends for remembering my birthday. And for the cake my daughter baked me and the homemade birthday cards - they are the best. Thanks to all.
