James is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mabel Haines Scott; six daughters, Iris J. Malott, Carolyn D. Kesselring and Melinda S. Wright, all of Hagerstown, Elizabeth A. Repp and Sheila K. Brown of Big Pool, Md., and Christine M. Jenkins of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one son, William G. Scott of Martinsburg; one sister, Sarah Kirkpatrick of Winter Garden, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James R. Scott Jr.; five sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD 21795, with Pastor Justin L. Repp officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before services. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open Tuesday after 9 a.m.
