FREDERICK, Md. - Robert "Bob" Ray Falkenstein, 81, a former lifelong resident of Myersville, Md., died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, where he resided with his wife, Betty Coblentz Falkenstein, since 2006.

Born Feb. 6, 1928, in Myersville, Bob was the son of the late Walter R. and Dottie M. Doman Falkenstein.

He was a 1945 graduate of Middletown (Md.) High School and served in the Army Air Corps for two years. As a dedicated member of the Myersville Lions Club, he worked on many community projects and had served as a member of the Myersville Town Council. Bob was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion in Middletown.

Retiring in 1984 after 33 years of service with IBM, Bob enjoyed delivering cars for various local dealerships in the Frederick area.


In addition to his wife, Betty, Bob is survived by four children, R. Leslie Falkenstein, Lynn Klouda and her husband, George, John Falkenstein and his wife, Teresa, and Joel Falkenstein; and six grandchildren, Lauren and Gregory Klouda, and Gracie, Keller, Drew and Brett Falkenstein.

Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Claire Jean Falkenstein and Doris Falkenstein Shafer; and one brother, James Edwin Falkenstein.

Memorial services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Homewood Retirement Centers, Benevolent Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 250, Williamsport, MD 21795.
