WILLIAMSPORT - Charles Franklin "Frank" Knode, 84, of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Julia Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown.

Born on Sept. 23, 1925, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Howard and Alta Jane (Haller) Knode.

He was an active member of Hagerstown Bible Church, where he belonged to the Young at Heart group.

Frank was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving with the Cummings Destroyer Escort.

He retired after 35 years of service as an instrument man in the powerhouse for Marquette-Lonestar Cement Co. of Hagerstown.

He enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winter months.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 61 years, Jane Marie (Glenn) Knode; a daughter, Tessa Buchanan, her husband John and their daughter Annie of Williamsport; a daughter, Rayetta Musgrove and husband Steve of Cumberland; three sisters, Ester Elaine Cheney of Frederick, Md., V. Juanita Ralls of Melbourne, Fla., and Doris J. Reynolds of Laurel, Md,; a grandson, John Buchanan, his wife Susan and their children, Jessica and Jordan; a granddaughter, Wendy Brechbill, her husband Michael and their children Zachary, Justin and Toby; a granddaughter, Karen Wier, her husband, Keith and their children Caleb, Sara and Abby; a grandson, Stevie Musgrove; a granddaughter, Soncerae Musgrove; and two great-great-grandchildren, Belle and Jake. Frank was survived by an extended family; Edward Glenn and wife Utha of Hagerstown, Nelson Kline and wife Rita, Ronnie Kline and wife Tina, Wayne Kline and wife Gloria, and Harry Kline and wife Wanda.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wenton Knode, Glen L. Knode, Howard H. Knode and Algernon E. Knode; and one sister, Minerva L. Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Dale R. Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour before services Tuesday.
