My Bank First United Bank & Trust



My Bank First United Bank & Trust has partnered with several Washington County businesses to support Food Resources Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves the local community.

My Bank and 14 other businesses are collecting monetary donations for Food Resources. My Bank will match the total donations received by Dec. 15 up to $1,000.

Cape Air



HYANNIS, Mass. - Cape Air has been selected to work with the Federal Aviation Administration in a data-collection process aimed at enhancing aircraft global positioning system (GPS) navigation.

The system, called Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), provides greater accuracy and enhanced safety to aviation navigation and might allow design of enhanced noise avoidance routes in and out of airports.

Cape Air was awarded $470,000 for the three-year project in order to equip six Cape Air Cessna 402s with GPS-WAAS units.

Cape Air offers daily flights from Hagerstown Regional Airport to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Fulton County Medical Center



McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Fulton County Medical Center's Long Term Care Activities Department is accepting donations for its Angels On Earth program.

Because of the heightened flu season, it is requested that donations be dropped off at the Activities Department. Department staff will distribute the gifts to the residents on Christmas Eve.

Those wanting to participate in the program are asked to drop off donations to the Activities Department by Friday, Dec. 18.

Frederick County business awards



FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick County Business Development Advisory Council and the Frederick County Office of Economic Development held their Annual Business Reception on Oct. 28 at Dutch's Daughter restaurant.

Three awards were presented during the reception. Canam Steel Corp. was named the 2009 Frederick County Creative Business Planning Firm of the Year, Givens Collision Repair Center Inc. was named the 2009 Frederick County Creative Green Stewardship Firm of the Year and Widearea Systems Inc. was named the 2009 Frederick County Creative Workforce Support Firm of the Year.

DanceWorks, Ballroom and Latin



FREDERICK, Md. - DanceWorks, Ballroom and Latin, a private and group ballroom dance lesson studio, recently opened at 500 W. Patrick St., second floor, in Frederick.

Owner/instructor Lee Ann Wolff has been teaching ballroom dancing since 1993, and is certified through the National Dance Council of America.
