FUNKSTOWN - Corey Thomas Williams, 19, of 16 W. Poplar St., Funkstown, Md., passed away, Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, as the result of an automobile accident.

Born Friday, Aug. 31, 1990, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Rodney Lynn Williams and Janet Kay Bowman of Funkstown.

He played in many sports through the CSL sports league and while attending school at Smithsburg High School. He was employed at Whitetail Ski Resort.

Corey was an avid skateboarder, snowboarder and drummer, and won several competitions.

Corey was also an accomplished artist, receiving the Maryland Youth Artist of the Year Award in 2000, selected by Governor Parris N. Glendening.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a great-aunt, Eva Bodnar of Greensburg, Pa.; favorite cousin, Josh Stitley, many other cousins, also many friends from the Hagerstown, Smithsburg and Mount Airy areas.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Betty Bowman, and paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Ethel Williams.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Thomas L. Perry officiating.

Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28.
