Police: No charges filed in fatal crash at Fairgrounds Park

November 23, 2009

No charges have been filed in connection with a fatal car accident Nov. 15 at Fairgrounds Park, Hagerstown Police said Monday.

Glenda Kay Clements, 54, of 907 Hamilton Blvd., in Hagerstown's North End, was killed when the car in which she was a passenger crashed at the park's softball field and overturned.

Police said Clements was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The overturned Mitsubishi Eclipse was discovered around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 15, police said. The car appeared to have been driven through the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Security Road at a high rate of speed, collided with curbing inside the park and overturned when it hit the outfield fence, police said.

Police are expected to meet with prosecutors from the Washington County State's Attorney's office this week to discuss the investigation, Sgt. Paul Kifer said.
