Heritage Academy holds Grandparents Day

November 23, 2009

Grandparents of Heritage Academy students were invited to spend the day at the school Oct. 29.

Grandparents were treated to coffee and doughnuts upon arrival at the Christian school west of Hagerstown.

Then they had the opportunity to attend two programs presented by the students.

During the high school program, students performed musical selections on the piano, chime bells and violins. A group of juniors performed a vocal selection, while members of the freshman class recited Matthew chapter five. Members of the senior and sophomore classes shared essays they wrote in English class or gave memorized speeches.

During a break between programs, grandparents had the opportunity to view a PowerPoint presentation about the school.

The elementary students then entertained the visitors with songs, poems and skits about grandparents. After the program, the grandparents joined the students for lunch in the gym.

To raise money for their junior trip, the junior class, in conjunction with Chick-fil-A, organized lunch for those who chose to support them. Before leaving, families had the opportunity to have their pictures taken to commemorate the day.
