Humane Society selling 2010 Value Book



The Humane Society of Washington County is selling the Rotary International 2010 Value Book that contains coupons valued at more than $500 for $20. Half of the proceeds from the sale of the value book will be donated to the HSWC.

The value book contains coupons from local businesses like golf courses, restaurants, historic sites, entertainment, and family recreation sites. There are a variety of restaurants included in the 2-for-1 offers, along with many other establishments.

The value book is available at the HSWC front counter during business hours, which are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The value book can also be purchased online at www.hswcmd.org by clicking on the Rotary Coupon Book link under the "Help the Animals" tab.

Festival of Trees scheduled



The sixth annual Festival of Trees event, formerly held at Robinwood Medical Center, will be held at Hager Hall Conference & Events Center this year. The annual event runs Tuesday, Dec. 1, through Saturday, Dec. 5.

The annual event showcases nearly 50 trees and wreaths, a model train display, a gift shop, special events, and holiday entertainment. Events held during the festivities include a senior social, a sugar plum father-daughter dance, and a holiday tea for friends and family.

The event will feature a festival finale party, a semi-formal cocktail reception to conclude the event on Saturday, Dec. 5. This event will offer visitors an opportunity to be present when the silent auction closes and found out if they've won one of the holiday displays.

Ambulance company sponsors bus trip



BRUNSWICK, Md. -Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance will sponsor a bus trip to New York City on Saturday, Dec. 5. The bus will leave Brunswick Shopping Center at 6 a.m. and leave New York City at 8 p.m. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will be lit. The cost is $65 per person.

Bible college accepting registrations



Antietam Bible College, Biblical Seminary and Graduate School, 15 High St., Hagerstown, announces registration for the spring semester, which begins Jan. 11. Late registration fees go into effect on Monday, Dec. 21.

Student exchange seeks representative



ASSE International Student Exchange Program is seeking an area representative. ASSE is a high school student exchange organization looking people in this area to help promote and assist in administering the program. The area representative will find and interview families interested in hosting and acting as a counselor for the international teenagers. ASSE will provide training and reimbursement for time and expenses.
