Betty L. (Fishack) Shetron, 80

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Betty L. (Fishack) Shetron, 80, of 40 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, died at 7:32 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Quincy United Methodist Home. She had been in failing health for the past year.

Born Dec. 4, 1928, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lucy (Cordell) Fishack. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.

She and her husband, the late Donald R. Shetron, were married Sept. 17, 1949, in Hagerstown, Md. They moved to North Broad Street in 1969. Mr. Shetron died Aug. 16, 1990.

Mrs. Shetron was a homemaker most of her life.

She was a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post No. 15 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a former volunteer at Quincy United Methodist Home and served Meals on Wheels every Friday for over 13 years.

Mrs. Shetron enjoyed caring for her home, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by two daughters, Renee Heare and Amy J. Weaver, both of Waynesboro; two sons, Douglas R. Shetron of Waynesboro and Jeffery L. Shetron of Abbottstown, Pa.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Martin of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons; one sister, Dorothy East; and one brother, Robert Fishack, who died during World War II.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Chaplain John Winckler officiating. Burial will follow in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

There will be no public viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Saturday morning, in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
