CASCADE -- A Washington County Sheriff's deputy on Thursday identified Terry Wayne Socks Jr., 38, as the man rescued Tuesday after a fall at High Rock.

Socks was taken by ambulance to a helicopter and flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. He was released the same day, Deputy Jasen Logsdon said Thursday evening.

Socks had already been transported when Logsdon arrived at the scene, he said.

According to three men who witnessed the fall, Socks was already at High Rock, a scenic overlook on Pen Mar High Rock Road, when they arrived.

According to the witnesses, Socks got off the rock and walked around behind it onto an embankment below the overlook, Logsdon said.

Socks apparently slipped on some leaves and rolled several feet, Logsdon said.

Socks' last known address is a home in Cascade, but the people who lived there didn't know him, and they have lived there since April, Logsdon said.
