General Adam Stephen House to hold 'Colonial Christmas Celebration'



MARTINSBURG W.Va. -- The General Adam Stephen House will hold its annual "Colonial Christmas Celebration" on Dec. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m.

On Dec. 12, activities include candlelight tours of the 1774 house decorated in Colonial Style, a children's craft activity and traditional holiday music. Light refreshments will be served.

On Dec. 13, tours of the house will be given, traditional holiday music performed and light refreshments will be served.

Admission is free both days.

Three area men participated in community art show and antiques appraisal fundraiser



BLUE RIDGE SUMMIT, Pa. -- Three area men participated in a community art show and antiques appraisal Nov. 7 at the Blue Ridge Summit Fire and Rescue fire hall to help raise money for a garden in Amanda K. Bowders' honor.

They were Sam Tressler of Emmitsburg, Md., Terry Barkdoll of Waynesboro, Pa., and Mel Halterman, also of Waynesboro. They donated their services for the event.

The garden is in front of the fire hall. Bowders, 19, died on Valentine's Day 2007, in a sledding accident.
