Volunteers sought for elementary schools
The Washington County Commission on Aging is seeking volunteers to serve in elementary schools starting in January through its RSVP program.
RSVP is "An Invitation to Serve" for those 50 and older who want to help in local schools by tutoring, mentoring, doing clerical work or using special computer or library skills.
The program now has 20 volunteers in 11 schools under a partnership with the Washington County Board of Education.
For more information, call Charlotte Levens, program coordinator, at 240-313-9139 (evenings) or e-mail crlevens@gmail.com.
Bake sale planned
St. Andrews United Methodist Church on Maryland Avenue is inviting everyone to stop by Saturday, Dec. 5, for some home baked goodness. There will be a large selection of holiday cookies to choose from that will be prebagged by the half dozen.
Also on the menu are homemade soups such as beef noodle, chicken corn, ham and bean, beef vegetable and chili.
