Franklin County Red Cross collecting for wounded soldiers

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Franklin County (Pa.) Chapter of the American Red Cross is gathering items for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Through Dec. 11, the chapter will accept requested items and have them delivered to military members. Items will be delivered in time for the upcoming holidays.

The following new, unopened items are requested:

o International phone cards (150 minutes or more)

o Visa or American Express gift cards

o Retail and grocery store gift cards

o T-shirts, all sizes and colors

o Nondisposable razors and replacement blades

o Full-size toiletries (deodorant, body wash, shampoo, mouthwash, etc.)

Donors can drop off items at the following locations:


o Chambersburg office, 25 Penncraft Ave., from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

o Waynesboro office in the Toll Gate House, 323 East Main St., on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon and Fridays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
