Three charged in drug investigations

The Washington County Narcotics Task Force said Friday it made three arrests this week in two drug investigations.

On Wednesday, two Hagerstown residents were charged in connection with the alleged distribution of crack cocaine in the 1000 block of Maryland Avenue.

Police said they seized about four ounces of crack cocaine with a street value of about $5,000.

Donnie Caldwell, 31, of 27 E. Lee St., was charged with possession to distribute cocaine (large amount), possession to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana, the task force said.

Troy A. Watson Jr., 19, of 411 N. Mulberry St., was charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, the task force said.


On Thursday, the task force and the county's Special Response Team used warrants to search 503 W. Washington St., Apt. 1, and seize 105 heroin capsules with a street value of about $2,500.

Authorities also seized about $2,500 in cash.

Kenneth Allen Platt Jr., 21, who lived in that apartment, was charged with four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of possession of heroin and two counts of distribution of heroin, the task force said.

Platt also was charged with single counts of maintaining a common nuisance, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of controlled paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, the task force said.
